Membership fees alone do not cover the full administrative and program costs. ERCV must gain additional funding from other sources - foundations, grants, individuals, members, and non-members.
ERCV is an IRS designated 501(c)(3) charitable organization, thus gifts to ERCV are tax deductible. Gifts may be made in honor or memory of others, in support of the sliding fee membership program, or to underwrite general operating expenses. Membership dues, however, are not tax deductible when services are provided in return for payment.
Become an annual giver for general operations. We are grateful for generous annual gifts from service and social members, and others who want to provide some extra “insurance” that ERCV will be there for residents when they need it most. Since these gifts are over and above membership fees, the extra amount is tax-deductible.
Sign up for Membership. ERCV offers a Membership program ($200 household) for those who wish to become part of the upper Ward 4 social network.
Membership in East Rock Creek Village (ERCV) is open to residents of the northern part of Ward 4 east of Rock Creek Park - specifically residents of Brightwood, Colonial Village, Manor Park, North Portal Estates, Shepherd Park and Takoma DC - who are 50 years of age or older.
Membership can be for an individual or for 2 or 3 persons in a household.
Members are eligible for services that are performed by ERCV volunteers including rides to medical appointments, grocery shopping and delivery, small household chores, and technical assistance.
Members may attend all ERCV sponsored programs – wellness, social and educational.
The annual cost of membership is $200 per household.
